The purpose of this event is to share our stories of the past election and intentions regarding how we will help bolster support for a progressive agenda by our newly-elected President Obama.
I would also like to devote some time to talk about Inauguration Day, January 20.

How do we move toward more organic,non-polluting, sustainable practices in Durham? Can we become eco-friendly in all our local markets,cafes,and transport systems,utilizing more extensive recycling efforts and alternative energy sources including solar and wind power? How do we encourage small local business to combat the plague of big box stores? (eg. Do we really need a new big Lowes on rte. 55?) How do we keep our green spaces and limit sprawl?

It will also be away to share ideas and implement this change movement . The time has come for us to help one another . We have come along way together . It is important to know that the fight is not over . We have to continue to help the President Elect Obama . He can not do all the work by himself . "Yes We Can" !

We are helping right in our backyards especially those with upside down mortgages, the need for jobs and food. We have a rescue plan and it's working!!! We are mobilizing people, starting job searches and donating food one family at a time.
It's not all going to take place in Washington, DC---we all have to do our part again.
Come see what we are doing and let's put it to work in your community, and our nation.
Need help putting your house party together? your office party, putting your idea in action, etc? It's easy and it only take a few people doing a little. We helped make a historic victory possible and see what we are doing now. Join us EVERY THURSDAY in Durham, regionally and nationwide.

Durham For Obama, Blue Coffee Café, and the blue citizens and businesses of downtown Durham will host an election return watch and community and volunteer appreciation celebration on Tuesday, Nov 4th, from 8:30pm until at 202 N. Corcoran St.
Join the Citizens of Durham in Downtown for the biggest street party of the Century! Historic Black Wall Street (Parrish Street), Corcoran Street, and Main Street will be closed off to create a four block celebration zone, including music, marching bands and souvenirs.
Watch live returns on a giant two-story tall projection screen. Stand shoulder to shoulder with your neighbors from across the City when the election is officially called on CNN via live satellite feed.
Cruise to different downtown restaurants and bars, each hosting their own election return parties. Eat, drink, roam and experience downtown as the true civic center of our community.
